SA bird hunting

Ngaiwang_ _people are using large nets and sounds to hunt birds, especially ducks, in the back creeks off what will become the lower Murray River in South Australia.   To capture the birds, hunters place a large net across the creek from bank to bank.   Then a boomerang, which cuts through the air creating a whistling sound, is thrown precisely at them.   The sound frightens the birds and they fly directly into the net or are captured in it.   Reeds are also used as a sort of camouflage to creep up on sitting ducks.   Hunters with a hat made of reeds will stalk the animals underwater until they are underneath the bird and in a good enough position to pull them down below the surface.
