Occupation of new land

Down south on what will become Tasmania, pakana are watching their world change.

The climate is becoming colder.

Rivers, like the one flowing through nipaluna (Hobart), shrink to trickling creeks through giant valleys.

Further north, the land bridged widens.

As the sea shrinks, they live on land that will one day become known as the continental shelf.

Over thousands and thousands of years, the pakana witness the land change and pass this knowledge onto the next generations.

They have strong law and culture.

They are part of the country and have people that carry special knowledge about the spirits and how all things connect.

In the future the climate will warm and the sea will rise again, hiding many of the stories written in the land.
