Jabreen honey dreaming

The giant Dreaming God Jabreen, also known as Javreen, steps out of the milky way on to a land that was without shape and form.

This is to become known as the Gold Coast.

Jabreen throws his magical waddy to create the buruhl (mountains) and the bulun (rivers).

He plants many fruit trees, and in the rivers he puts plenty of julum (fish).

All this work to create and fill the landscape makes Jabreen hungry, and so he heads out to the hinterland for a feed.

He finds wild bees and feasts on this kabi or kupae (native bee honey).

But now his body is so sticky from this feast he heads to the ocean to wash his body.

Tired from his feast he puts his head down to rest.

But because he is so powerful, when he raises his hands the molten lava from the ground came in, enshrouding and hardening him.

His body eventually forms a mountain, known as Jellurgal (Burleigh Heads) to the Kombumerri.
