Emu in the sky segue

The stars above play an important part of guiding what’s going on down here on Earth.

Every night when people look up, they see their peoples’ ancient stories written into the stars.

They help people navigate the country, practise law and ceremony, and notify them of the change of season.

There’s a dark dust cloud in the galaxy that makes the shape of a large bird.

It’ll become known as the milky way.

But for many people, thousands of kilometres away from one another, it’s known as the emu in the sky.

It's embedded in stories and guides daily life.

It can be seen as a creator spirit, flying over and looking over the land.
