Dharawal fireplace

Dharawal people sit around a campfire at what is now known as Randwick, not far from abundant food and water supplies of local swamp systems at Centennial Park and the eastern Sydney Coastlands.   The site, which is used as a hearth, sits within the dunes below which the Prince of Wales Hospital will be built.   Its remains are spattered with fat and the stones in the fireplace show freshwater fish are cooked here.   Not far away, Centennial Parklands is commonly shared by neighbouring clans as a place for combat, punishment, and upholding lore.
